Reimagining space through Muralism
This mural is part of a project created as a master’s thesis, in collaboration with San Miguel School and the 5th-grade students. Together, we carried out a series of activities that culminated in the creation of this mural.

Through the creation of a mural, the surrounding context is carefully considered as a fundamental part of effectively conveying the narrative message and ensuring its organic integration within the space. One of the distinctive features of muralism is its ability to engage the community in the creative process. This involvement goes beyond selecting the content depicted in the artwork and extends to the production process itself, thereby strengthening community bonds. This participatory approach fosters stronger social connections and enables a more genuine expression of the community’s concerns and aspirations.
In this artistic project, the artist takes on the role of a spokesperson or mediator between the artwork and its potential creators, giving a voice to the individuals who make up the community and inhabit the space.

In this particular case, the primary community inhabiting this space is the students. Together with the students, a series of activities were carried out, focusing on collaborative work that would guide the subsequent development and creation of the mural. These activities promoted teamwork, organization, and the fulfillment of group tasks. Additionally, activities were included to help students become familiar with large-scale drawing and its relationship to the environment.
